Information Submitted Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is submitted to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Mercer Residents Directory does not keep its own copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains the information in that message and is used to answer it.
Automatically Collected Data
Hosting services may create routine logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use aggregated information to maintain the service and understand usage. Cookies or similar tools can support basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
That data helps operate the service, resolve technical problems, measure traffic, and improve its reference pages. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services and Links
Links lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search providers. The privacy terms of each destination control information submitted there, including information entered in sponsored search results.
Parties That May Process Data
Providers that host or support the service can process its server logs. Analytics and advertising providers may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it and otherwise only as described here.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for the operational purposes stated above. It offers no reader accounts, so it does not hold an account password or member profile for visitors.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Requests
Depending on where a visitor lives, that person may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data held by a website. Research for Mercer did not identify a general New Jersey consumer-privacy statute applicable to this private reference service. Because we retain little information, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. A public record held by a New Jersey state, county, or municipal custodian is outside our control and a correction or redaction request belongs with that custodian.
